Three UK x London Fashion Week: Immersive Fashion Show Launch
Our team was proud to partner with Three UK and collaborate with Connie Harrison, who brought us onto this groundbreaking project, to deliver an innovative immersive experience for the launch of London Fashion Week 2020, featuring the Central St Martins MA Show. This ambitious event showcased the potential of 5G technology, combining high-resolution projections, haptics, and live fashion to create a next-generation showcase.
The Project
For this high-profile fashion show, we designed and implemented several key technical solutions to create a seamless and impactful experience:
- 6-Channel 8K Projection System: We developed a high-resolution projection system that blended pre-rendered and real-time content, creating an engaging and immersive visual backdrop for the show.
- Haptic Feedback for 600 Guests: A synchronised haptic system added a tactile dimension, allowing the audience to feel subtle physical sensations tied to the show’s visuals and audio.
- Show Control System: We programmed and managed a robust system to synchronise projection, haptics, and other technical elements, ensuring smooth integration and flawless execution.
- Floor-Supported Truss Rig: To support the extensive projection, lighting, and audio equipment, we designed a custom floor-supported truss rig, addressing venue constraints while maintaining optimal placement and stability.
- Concealing the Glass Lift Shaft: A key challenge was the venue’s glass lift shaft, located in the middle of the projected surface. We devised a creative solution to integrate the lift shaft into the projection design, ensuring it blended seamlessly into the visual experience without disrupting the immersion.
Collaborative Efforts
We worked closely with Connie Harrison, as well as partners such as ABCAV and The Solid Collective, to deliver the project. While our primary focus was on projection, haptics, show control, truss design, and concealing the lift shaft, we collaborated with teams handling audio, lighting, and AR integration to ensure a cohesive and polished result.
Revolutionising Fashion Show Experiences
This project exemplified how technology and creativity can redefine live fashion shows. By integrating immersive projection, haptics, and 5G-enabled AR, we helped Three UK and Central St Martins create an innovative showcase that highlighted the future of fashion and technology.
We are proud to have worked with Connie Harrison and a talented team of collaborators to deliver this ambitious project, blending engineering creativity, technical expertise, and collaborative effort to set a new standard for immersive fashion experiences.
