NikeLab “OFF-CAMPUS”: A Cultural Hub for Sport, Design, and Innovation
As part of the Ten Icons Reconstructed collaboration, Nike launched OFF-CAMPUS, a cultural destination and learning environment dedicated to the advancement of sport, design, and innovation. Set in the heart of East London, NikeLab 1948 LDN became a vibrant hub where creativity and community engagement flourished.
The Experience
The main hub for OFF-CAMPUS was housed in a repurposed gallery space in the iconic Truman Brewery in East London. This space hosted a variety of activities designed to inspire creativity and connect people:
- Workshops: Hands-on workshops focused on the intersection of sport, design, and innovation.
- Cross-City Run with JME: An exciting cross-city run led by JME, bringing together Nike enthusiasts for an active exploration of London.
- Talks at the Barbican: Engaging discussions at the Barbican with Virgil Abloh, Benji B, and Kim Jones about creative processes, innovation, and the future of design.
- Culminating Party at Oval Space: The launch culminated with a celebratory party at Oval Space in East London, bringing together attendees for a night of celebration and community.
Our Contribution
Our team played a key role in the successful execution of this event series, managing the live experiences and designing the visual elements for the party:
- Production Management: We were responsible for production management at both the Barbican and Oval Space events. This involved overseeing logistics, technical setups, and coordination with venue teams to ensure smooth operations throughout the talks and party.
- Stage and Lighting Design for Oval Space: For the culminating party at Oval Space, we designed the stage and lighting to create an engaging and immersive atmosphere. Our design focused on blending Nike’s brand identity with dynamic lighting effects that elevated the energy of the party and left a lasting impression on the attendees.
- Coordination with Performers and Speakers: We worked closely with the performers and speakers, including Virgil Abloh, Benji B, Kim Jones, and JME, ensuring that their contributions aligned with Nike’s vision and that they were supported throughout their sessions.
Celebrating Innovation and Community
The OFF-CAMPUS initiative was a celebration of sport, design, and community, and our role in production management, stage, and lighting design helped bring these elements to life. By managing live events and crafting an impactful atmosphere for the culminating party, we helped Nike create an unforgettable experience that embodied creativity and collaboration.
We are proud to have contributed to this innovative cultural initiative, working with Nike to create a space that inspired, engaged, and connected people through sport and design.
